Ready when you are.
Book a free call →Two big careers, one busy home?
Two careers at full stretch. One household with no owner.
A house manager who anticipates is the hire two demanding careers need at home. Opposite shifts, travel weeks, a rota that cycles through nights and weekends. You both run teams at work and come home to a house nobody is running. A house manager who anticipates, placed with the discretion and speed your week needs.
We'll fit it between clinic and the school run.

Home from the shift
A stocked fridge and a reset house, not a second shift.
One family we placed: two physicians on opposite shifts, 18 to 23 hours a week.
- 10,000+ families supported
- 90-day guarantee
- Flat fee, never a % of salary

What people are saying
Busy professionals on why this hire was different.
“Because they took the burden of hiring off our shoulders, we regained time and headspace to devote to what matters: family, work and growth.”
Anticipates
The brief in most of these households is the same: someone who sees what's coming and handles it without being asked. That's who we recruit for.
Discretion
Background check, references and an employment agreement before any offer. Your household details stay inside the search.
4–6 weeks
From an approved job description to your first candidates. The kickoff is a video call; we do the rest around your schedule.
The gap
You have a team at work. You need one at home.
The households below all had some help. What they lacked was the person who runs the operation: the one who owns the list, manages the vendors and makes the house work around two unpredictable calendars.
What's happening now
- Every free hour goes to catch-up: laundry, errands, the fridge
- Weekends disappear into the house
- The partner with the lighter week carries the home, and resents it
- The cleaners come, and by Tuesday the resets are yours again
- A rota or travel week means nobody is home to decide
What the house manager owns
- The running of the home around both calendars
- Meals planned and prepped, the kitchen stocked
- Supplies, vendors, repairs, returns, the dog
- The children's logistics when you're both on
- A weekly report instead of a daily question
Two calendars you can't predict? That's exactly what the kickoff call maps.

Physicians
Nine physician households placed.
Opposite shifts, rotas, a day off that went to errands. The role is built around the rota, not around a nine-to-five.
Executives
Someone who manages themselves.
The brief from one executive: this hire had to manage itself. That is the certified house manager's job description.

The numbers
Two salaries against one household's hours.
The calculator values your time at your own rate or your household salary and shows what the house's hours cost you now.
- The cost today, including your own time
- Hours you get back each week
- Return on the search at one and two years
How the calculator works
- 1What you pay today for sitters, delivery, cleaners and errands, plus the hours you put in yourself
- 2A house manager at the hours and rate you choose, with W-2 costs if you want them
- 3How you find them: a flat fee, an agency percentage, or your own time
- 4The return on the search at one and two years, and the hours you get back
Nothing is filled in for you. Add the Sage Haus fee from your call when you have it.

Questions families ask
Before you book.
How much of our time does the search take?
A kickoff call, feedback on the job description, two or three finalist interviews and a decision. We do the sourcing, screening and scheduling.
Can the role work around a rota or heavy travel?
Yes. Several of the families above have opposite shifts or months of travel. The job description sets the hours around your real week, and it can shift as the rota does.
How discreet is the process?
Your household details stay inside the search, and candidates are screened by a person before they meet you. References, a background check and an employment agreement come before any offer.
What does a house manager actually do all day?
The household, not the children: the daily reset, laundry, kitchen and meal prep, groceries and supplies, the family calendar, vendors, errands and returns. Childcare can be scoped in around the edges.

What will I pay the house manager?
Dual-career households often start at 18 to 25 hours and grow the role. Typically $25 to $50 an hour depending on scope and location, higher in New York and the Bay Area. They're a W-2 household employee; we point you to a payroll partner that handles taxes and pay stubs. Our own fee is covered on the call.

How do you vet candidates?
Discretion starts with vetting: every candidate is screened by a person before they meet you. Regional hiring specialists source from local boards and our certified talent pool. Every candidate is screened and interviewed by a human before you meet them. References, a background check and an employment agreement come before any offer, and a one-time re-match is available within 90 days.
How long does it take?
The search runs around your calendar; the kickoff is a video call. About four to six weeks from an approved job description to your first candidates. If you have a date in mind, we work back from it.
What if it doesn't work out?
If the role needs to change with a new rota, the guarantee covers it. A one-time re-match with up to two new candidates inside the first 90 days, no extra fee, provided you did the onboarding call and the six-week check-in with us.
My partner thinks we can keep managing it ourselves.
Run the calculator together: two salaries against the hours the house takes. Then bring them to the call.
