In general, you can expect to pay $25–$45/hour. While the payment method is ultimately up to you, most clients choose to use a household payroll provider to set up direct deposit, withhold taxes, and stay compliant with employment laws. As part of our service, we’ll walk you through everything you need to consider as a household employer—from payroll and taxes to liability and insurance—so you can feel confident and prepared.

Sage Haus includes a criminal background check for all placements, conducted after a conditional offer is made and in accordance with state laws. We partner with PFC Caregiving & Household Screening, a trusted provider specializing in caregiver and household employee screenings. Our standard Basic-Plus package includes identity verification, a multijurisdictional criminal records search (including sex offender registries and OFAC lists), and a county-level court search covering the candidate’s current residence. This provides a strong level of due diligence for most household roles. If you’d like to add screenings like motor vehicle reports, drug testing, or employment verification, we’re happy to coordinate that—just note that any add-ons will be invoiced separately.
